PetSmart Charities(R) Celebrates 4-Millionth Adoption "Chloe," a Rescued Collie-Mix, Is the 4-Millionth Pet to Find a Lifelong, Loving Home at a PetSmart Charities Adoption Center (PressMethod) - A one-year-old collie-mix named Chloe in Rockaway, New Jersey, has found her forever home, thanks to Eleventh Hour Rescue and PetSmart Charities. Chloe's adoption tale is anything but ordinary, however. The rescued dog who'd been abandoned and almost faced euthanasia at a crowded shelter is the 4-millionth pet to be adopted at a PetSmart Charities Adoption Center.
The Jancarek family of Randolph, N.J., adopted Chloe during the holiday season. The Jancareks in 2009 lost both of their beloved dogs to cancer. Missing canine companionship, they decided to rescue a dog.
"Our house is not a home without a dog," said Sharon Jancarek. "We contacted Eleventh Hour Rescue and they told us to come see the available dogs at the PetSmart store. When we saw Chloe, we instantly clicked. We knew she was the dog for us."
The family includes wife Sharon, husband Stephen and son Christopher. Chloe also joins a hamster named Henry, a rabbit named Fluffy and many fish. Christopher, 12, and Chloe became fast friends shortly after the adoption, and Chloe is settling in nicely with her new loving family.
