Fire and Accidental Damage Most Important Van Insurance Criteria

(PressMethod) - Almost fifty per cent of van drivers consider fire and accidental damage cover as the most important when choosing van insurance, according to figures released today.

An online survey of 1,200 customers by van insurance retailer, Swinton Commercial, found that 42% of van drivers thought that fire and accidental damage was more important than legal liability, van contents and breakdown cover.

35% of Swinton Commercial customers voted that theft or deliberate damage was the second most important factor.

When asked about what the most important van insurance criteria, the respondents listed the following five priorities:

1. Fire and accidental damage (41.8%)

2. Theft or deliberate damage (35.2%)

3. Legal liability (11.5%)

4. Van contents (7.1%)

5. Breakdown (4.4%)

Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton Commercial, said: "Choosing the right van insurance can be quite confusing. There are a lot of things that need to be considered, including the cost of the policy. Drivers need to consider the usage of their van and also how much they risk by not taking out a comprehensive policy.

"It is important for our customers to know that there are additional options which can be added on the your van insurance policy, such as breakdown cover and drivers' legal protection"
